    Around Jakarta and Indonesia

    What is the main language?
Bahasa Indonesia is spoken by more than 94% of the population, but it is the primary language of only 20% of the population. Javanese (Jawa) is the most common primary language, spoken by over 30% of the population.
    Which currency can I use?
Indonesia’s currency is the Indonesian rupiah (IDR), with notes in denominations of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000. While most shops and restaurants accept credit cards, it is still a good idea to have some cash on you (especially small change). ATMs are easily accessible in most shopping malls, high streets and banks.
    Which plug socket is used?
Indonesia uses type C and F plug sockets. The standard voltage is 230 V at a frequency of 50 Hz. We recommend bringing a universal adapter.
    Are there data roaming charges?
You will need to check the exact charges with your network provider, but most international delegates will incur high data roaming charges. We recommend buying an eSIM via Airalo, which gives you 3GB of data for 7 days for US$8. Use our referral code TIMESH7718 for US$3 off. We recommend checking that your phone supports eSIMs before making your purchase.
Is tap water safe to drink?
Tap water in Indonesia is generally deemed not safe for direct consumption. While some areas may have better water quality than others, it is safer to drink bottled water away from the venue. At the congress venue, water coolers will be provided with water that is safe to drink.
