    Energy and decarbonisation

The future of energy: From innovation to impact

Global academic leaders, energy companies, policymakers and investors come together to explore how research, innovation and cross-sector collaboration can accelerate the transition to secure, affordable and sustainable energy systems.

The track examines key challenges shaping the energy future, from renewables, smart grids and energy storage to AI, infrastructure investment and workforce development.

It showcases how partnerships between academia, industry and government can turn cutting-edge research into real-world solutions, drive sustainable economic growth and shape the global energy agenda toward 2030 and beyond.

    Discussion topics

Our expert speakers and senior decision-makers in energy and decarbonisation will debate four big questions shaping the future.

    1. How can we accelerate the transition to secure, affordable and sustainable energy systems?

What will it take to move from ambition to implementation? How can governments, industry and universities work together to overcome barriers to clean energy adoption, strengthen energy security and meet growing global demand?

    2. How can research and innovation transform the future of energy?

Which emerging technologies have the greatest potential to reshape energy generation, storage and distribution? How can universities and industry collaborate to accelerate innovation, commercialise research and scale solutions globally?

    3. How will we power the next generation of economic growth?

As artificial intelligence, data centres, advanced manufacturing and electrification drive increasing energy demand, how must our energy infrastructure evolve? What investments, technologies and partnerships are needed to construct resilient, intelligent and sustainable energy systems?

    4. What role should universities play in shaping the global energy transition beyond 2030?

How can universities move beyond research to become active partners in energy transformation? What role should they play in developing future talent, influencing policy, supporting industry innovation and driving cross-border collaboration to deliver long-term impact?
